“What is Longitudinal Data Analysis?”
Longitudinal data analysis is defined as the study of change over time based on trend analysis gathered from validated data sets. But what is a longitudinal dataset? According to CALDER, a dataset is longitudinal if it tracks the same type of information on the same subjects in multiple points in time. For instance, a longitudinal dataset could contain specific students and their standardized test scores over six successive years.
The primary advantage of longitudinal analysis is that it measures and analyzes change, whether the change is positive or negative. This analysis can be used to see if instructional programs are effective in creating improved achievement, for example. Since the analysis extends into the past as well as the present, we can use this data to see trends that could extend into the future. While the Data Transporter performs the collection, the data is ultimately gathered, validated, and reported on in the Data Warehouse. The CPSI-Connect Data Warehouse is comprised of a dynamic Operational Data Store and a transactional Data Warehouse, where reporting can be completed. - Student Unique ID System – combined with the Core/ECS Unique ID Generator software, or attached to an existing Unique ID generation software, this component will transport the data required to determine Unique ID’s from the schools/districts to the state level, and send that data back to the appropriate schools/districts so that the ID can be populated back into the Student Information System at each school/district.Learn More...
- CPSI-Connect Data Transporter – allows you to connect to various back end data sources and automatically transmit the data via web services to a SIF environment, or directly to other data sources, such as our CPSI-Connect Data Warehouse. - CPSI-Connect Data Proofreader – used to provide for data validation on the CPSI ODS and Data Warehouse, and provides a web-based mechanism for viewing the errors and notifying users that there are errors in their providing applications and databases.
